Theresa Foster is an expressive artist and group facilitator. She graduated from the University of Florida in 2004 with a doctoral degree in experimental psychology and an intention to become a research professor. She soon realized, however, the academic life was not her passion. A dark period of depression and anxiety followed. She began to recover a sense of self around 2010 after getting counseling and reading The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron and Art and Healing by Barbara Ganim. She discovered that she had kept her interest in art and creativity hidden for her entire life and it was time to take a chance on happiness and live a more passionate, fulfilling life.
Theresa began taking art classes in 2013 and has developed eclectic interests in photography and drawing. She enjoys a compassionate personal practice of creating artwork that honors her authentic emotional expression without intense focus on perfecting the end product. Theresa is currently pursuing a certification in Expressive Arts Education at the Expressive Arts Florida Institute in Sarasota, FL. She is also a Creator with PeaceLove Studios and facilitates their expressive arts workshops in the Gainesville area (https://www.facebook.com/creatorsprogramtheresafoster/).
